#UNWTOElections: Armenian Candidate drops from UNWTO SG Race

Armenia Minister of Tourism Vahan Martirosyan,

Vahan Martirosyan, the Armenian candidate who was contending for the United Nations World Tourism Organization Secretary General post has withdrawn from the race.

It is not immediately known why he would pull out from the race at this time when the elections are so imminent. This leaves at six, the number of candidates vying for the top job of the world tourism body. The remaining are Marcio Favilla from Brazil, Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanciemente from Colombia and Zurab Pololikashvili from Georgia. The rest are Mrs. Young-shim Dho from Republic of Korea, Alain St. Ange from Seychelles and Walter Mzembi.

The recommendation of a nominee appointment to the post of Secretary-General will be made by a simple majority of the Members of the Executive Council, to be held from 10 to 12 May 2017 in Madrid, Spain.
