The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare on Sunday, opened the Providence Events and Recreation Centre-Accra’s latest hub for entertainment and social gathering.
Located within the precinct of the Trade Fair Centre, the facility comes with two event halls with 1,200 and 250 seating capacity respectively, an out-door events facility, children playground, a kitchen, restaurant and washrooms for both males and females. In her speech, Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare said she was delighted as the establishment of the centre will deepen the country’s credential as a hospitable destination which is highly recognized globally.
“…Ghana is well noted in the international tourism circles as a country that is very hospitable. We do not take our welcoming attitude towards visitors for granted. That is why as the sector Minister I am always excited when additional facilities aimed at improving the tourism and hospitality sector are added to the stock that is currently available.”
The Tourism Minister said she found it particularly gratifying that a playing ground has been developed for children at the centre. Alluding to the adage, “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy,” Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare maintained that more of such places was needed for the wholistic development of children.
“We need many more of such grounds for our children to have recreation and to refresh themselves. For the development of our children should be all round, not just limited to the acquisition of classroom knowledge,” she added.
Owners of the facility, Alhaji Bisi Dundu and Mrs. Sheriffa Dundu noted that they were committed to the development of the hospitality industry, thus, the centre will offer top notch services to clients and visitors.
Alhaji Dundu said he was driven to invest in the establishment of the centre by his wife’s passion for serving people. He added that his wife had always hosted people from all walks of life and as a husband, he was happy to have played a role in the dream enterprise of his spouse.
