Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s leading airline, would be sponsoring a familiarisation trip by Chinese tour operators to Ghana.
A statement issued in Accra by the Airline said the trip was in partnership with some leading Ghanaian tour operators like Apstar and Sunseekers.
It said the Chinese were the biggest travellers in the world and were increasingly finding Africa appealing to invest in adding that Ghana had positioned itself as a major destination of choice in West Africa.
The statement said the familiarisation trip would see the Chinese tour operators visit Kumasi to participate in the Akwasidae Festival.
“They will be hosted by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II while on a city tour of Kumasi,” it said.
The statement said the group would be hosted to a business forum involving the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and tourism stakeholders.
It said the visitors would round off the trip with an intensive tour of the castles including the UNESCO Heritage monuments of Elmina and Cape Coast and later the Kakum National Park.
Ethiopian Airlines is the first African airline to fly to Ghana since independence and till today flies daily into Accra with the most modern airplane B787 Dreamliner. Last year the airline was adjudged the Best Airline in Ghana by the Executive Business Magazine.
